HKS MEDICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS JOINS FORCES WITH COGNOS
PARTNERSHIP PROVIDES USERS OF TRANSPLANT SOFTWARE WITH ENHANCED RESEARCH AND REPORTING ABILITIES
OMAHA (Neb.)—The developer of the leading software in the industry for tracking the medical history and progress of patients receiving organ transplants has signed a partnership with Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management. In partnering with Cognos, HKS Medical Information Systems is using Cognos solutions to improve the research and reporting function of its Organ Transplant Tracking Record (OTTR) software, which is used by more than 100 transplant programs in 33 hospitals.
"Transplant doctors who use our software, especially at university hospitals, do a tremendous amount of research," said Doug Perry, President and CEO of HKS Medical Information Systems. "Our partnership with Cognos means data can more easily be extracted and allows the doctors and others on the transplant team to do any kind of research and reporting they require."
"It is critical for medical centers to have comprehensive information readily available to meet reporting requirements and to pinpoint areas for quality and business improvement," said Ted Jandl, vice president of strategic partners, Cognos. "Cognos and HKS provide executives and physicians the information needed to make fast, informed decisions—ultimately driving business performance improvements and customer success."
Perry said doctors will now be able to simply "drag and drop" to review, for example, the lab results of all their liver patients on a certain antirejection medication. Results are displayed in text or graphical format.
"Many of our clients do a tremendous amount of research and white papers," Perry said. "This refinement of the OTTR software will make this job easier for them."
